Carrie’s Painting of the Week
By Carrie Jacobson
Here are things that make me happy:
- My husband, our family and our families
- My friends
- God
- Painting
- My sobriety
- Strong weather of any kind
- The feeling of freedom, even if it’s fleeting, even if it’s just a taste
- A big sky, with no pesky trees
- Coffee
- Bacon
- Knowing something before others do
- A clean house
- A house that’s dirty because I’ve been so busy doing things
- The smell of dust rising in the early moments of a rain storm
- The spring songs of birds
- Going somewhere I’ve never been
- Change
- Sunflowers
And you? What makes you happy?

And so you ask this question on my son’s 24th birthday!
Well – It’s a good thing because…
I adore:
#2
#3
#7
#8…yes!
#14: Petrichor! Love it!
Of course they’re all nice. But these are my favorites.
Thanks for sharing, Carrie!

Oh, thank YOU, Kate, for you enthusiasm and support! And happy birthday to your son = and in a way, to you!

Some things that make me happy:
When I look out the window of our third floor “house” on a cold winter’s evening and see Venus and the clear curve of the moon. To me it’s a winter’s blessing.
My children and grandchildren playing and singing music, just like my family did when I was young.
And more….

Jean, what a beautiful piece of writing, Venus and the clear curve of the moon.
It is indeed a blessing, as is the music of your family. Thank you for sharing.
